Tips For Avoiding Unfair Pay Claims [Video]
Everyone wants to be compensated for what they’re worth, and it falls to HR leadership to make sure employers follow these tips:
First, educate all staff on timekeeping procedures and make sure that they are properly enforced. Computerized recordkeeping along with the ability to inspect payroll runs in advance and make adjustments prior to payment will go a long way to protect against claims of missed timecard punches. Second, document your guidelines for promotions, salary increases and bonuses. By making compensation requirements transparent, employees won’t be left wondering what performance standards they need to meet to get a raise.
Lastly, have regular employee evaluations so that employees know where they stand and what is expected. By being clear and documenting your approach to compensation, you can avoid a lot of ill will that could easily turn into an unfair compensation claim.
